Wolcott Family Society
Revised - June 2026
The Wolcott Family Society is a group of individuals descending from a common surname with multiple spellings including Wolcott, Walcott, Woolcott, Walcutt, Wilcott, Woolacott, and possibly others. Those with these surnames also include connections of genealogy, DNA, history, stories, and other social contexts. Our members enjoy a comradery with each other as family even though we could be sibling, 1st cousins, greater than 12th cousins, or related only by a common surname.

This web site was created in 2006 by John Benjamin Wolcott, then Registrar of the Wolcott Family Society and co-author with Charles V. Waid of the Wolcott genealogy book, Wolcott Immigrants and their Early Descendants, published in 2004.
Information about American Wolcotts has been collected by the Wolcott Society for over 120 years. Our database is a definative source for information about Wolcotts, Walcotts, Wilcotts, and Woolacotts. There are many other variations on this surname spelling throughout historical records. They should all be included within these records.
